Real - Time Multirate Speech Codec for Manneo Spacecraft
نویسنده
چکیده
This paper describes a real-time implementation of a multirate (2.4, 4.8, 8 and 16 Kbit/sec) speech codec designed to fulfil the requirements of the telecommunication sub-system for HERMES spacecraft. Considering these requirements, our choice tumed to the Multi-Pulse Excited Linear Predictive Coding (MPLPC) approach (except for the 2.4 Kbit/sec emergency rate which is based on the standard LPC-10 algorithm). In the first part of the paper, emphasis is put on coding aspects, in order to achieve effectively the expected bit rates. In particular, the encoding of the pulses is carefully studied. Then, details are given about hardware and software developments. Lastly, system complexity is

An Adaptive Packet Loss Recovery Method Based on Real-time Speech Quality Assessment and Redundant Speech Transmission
In this paper, an adaptive packet loss recovery (APLR) method that improves the speech quality of a real-time speech streaming (RSS) system over IP networks is proposed. The proposed APLR method estimates the packet loss rate (PLR) of network via a real-time speech quality assessment (RSQA) at the receiver side of the RSS system, and then requests the opposite RSS system to transmit redundant s...
متن کاملThe adaptive multirate wideband speech codec (AMR-WB)
This paper describes the Adaptive Multirate Wideband (AMR-WB) speech codec recently selected by the Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) for GSM and the third generation mobile communication WCDMA system for providing wideband speech services. The AMR-WB speech codec algorithm was selected in December 2000 and the corresponding specifications were approved in March 2001. The AMR-WB codec...
متن کاملReal-Time Transport Protocol (RTP) Payload Format and File Storage Format for the Adaptive Multi-Rate (AMR) and Adaptive Multi-Rate Wideband (AMR-WB) Audio Codecs
This document specifies a real-time transport protocol (RTP) payload format to be used for Adaptive Multi-Rate (AMR) and Adaptive MultiRate Wideband (AMR-WB) encoded speech signals. The payload format is designed to be able to interoperate with existing AMR and AMR-WB transport formats on non-IP networks. In addition, a file format is specified for transport of AMR and AMR-WB speech data in sto...
متن کاملWTIMIT: The TIMIT Speech Corpus Transmitted Over The 3G AMR Wideband Mobile Network
In anticipation of upcoming mobile telephony services with higher speech quality, a wideband (50 Hz to 7 kHz) mobile telephony derivative of TIMIT has been recorded called WTIMIT. It opens up various scientific investigations; e.g., on speech quality and intelligibility, as well as on wideband upgrades of network-side interactive voice response (IVR) systems with retrained or bandwidth-extended...
متن کاملVoIP Codec Adaptation Algorithm in Multirate 802.11 WLANs: Distributed vs. Centralized Performance Comparison
Multirate 802.11 environments are quite problematic for VoIP traffic, with the rate changes of some of the flows affecting the transmission of all others. Building upon our previous results, we propose an algorithm which, based on the combined feedback from Real-Time Control Protocol (RTCP) packets and the MAC layer, can dynamically adapt the codecs of ongoing VoIP calls to adjust them to the m...
